Bessie Lucille Morrow, 94, passed away during the early morning hours of Tuesday (June 13, 2017) at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. Bessie was born on May 25, 1923 to the late John Freeman and Vera Phillips in Bondtown, VA.

In 1946, Bessie married the love of her life while in the Navy, Ray Morrow, and after 56 years of marriage he preceded her in death in 2002. Bessie was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend; she will be greatly missed.

In 1946, Bessie married the love of her life while in the Navy, Ray Morrow, and after 56 years of marriage he preceded her in death in 2002. Bessie was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend; she will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents and husband, Bessie was preceded in death by her son, Danny Morrow; and 8 brothers and sisters.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Linda Morrow; son, Gary Morrow; sister, Marie Bevins & husband Clay; brother, Larry Thompson & wife Mary; ten grandchildren, Dumaka Shabazz & wife Holly, Marek Morrow & wife Dylan, DeKwan Morrow & wife Meg, Jamaica Morrow, Natalie Morrow, Danielle Morrow, Eric Morrow, Becky Morrow, John Morrow, and Jason Morrow; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

The family will greet guests and share memories on Monday (June 19, 2017) from 1 to 2 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with her grandson, Dumaka Shabazz officiating.

Bessie will be entombed next to her loving husband following the funeral services on Monday (June 19, 2017) at 3 p.m. in Mausoleum II at East Lawn Memorial Park with military rites provided by American Legion Hammond Post 3 and Gate City Post 265 Honor Guard. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
